The Team of the Year (TOTY) has historically been the most highly anticipated annual event for Ultimate Team players in the FIFA series, and this year is no exception. With the EA FC 24 TOTY on the horizon, excitement is building as it promises to introduce some of the most exceptional cards the game has seen till now. As we await official confirmation, here are our EA FC 24 TOTY predictions.

Picking the Team of the Year is more challenging than choosing the Team of the Season because it depends on how players perform throughout a calendar year. That means we must look at player performances at the business end of the 2022/23 season and the opening half of the 2023/24 season. Fan votes will determine the final squad, but leaks from a highly reliable FUT source have seemingly uncovered the players nominated for the prestigious campaign before the voting opens.

It’s impossible to reveal the final EA FC 24 TOTY lineup right now since the votes have not yet begun. That said, here is how we expect the EA FC 24 Team of the Year to take shape:

Marc Andre ter Stegen (GK)

Marc Andre ter Stegen faced scrutiny in recent seasons, but 2023 marked a redemption period for the Barcelona keeper. He conceded only 18 goals, securing the Zamora Trophy – a feat he had yet to accomplish since his arrival in Spain nine years ago. His resilience between the sticks was instrumental in Barcelona’s triumphant 2022/23 run. The German international kept 26 clean sheets, matching the record Paco Liano had set in La Liga in the 1993/94 season. Ter Stegen seems to be the obvious GK pick for the EADC 24 TOTY squad.

Theo Hernandez, Ruben Diaz, William Saliba, Kyle Walker (Defense)

The defensive lineup for the EA FC 24 TOTY does not hold much surprise, either. Theo Hernandez has established himself as one of the best fullbacks in the world at AC Milan, and following another stellar season in Rossoneri colors, you can expect him to break into the creme de la creme selection of players in 2023.

The Frenchman could be the only non-Premier League player in the FC 24 TOTY backline. Manchester City’s treble-winning season warrants the inclusion of Kyle Walker and Ruben Diaz.

William Saliba acted as the linchpin of Arsenal’s defense, anchoring the team until his injury disrupted the Gunners’ pursuit of the title.

While the youngster failed to guide Arsenal to their first Premier League title in 19 years, we believe he has done enough to make it to the best 2023 XI. He has held on to his mercurial form in the ongoing season, making it even more likely for him to receive a TOTY spot.

Rodri, Kevin de Bruyne, Jude Bellingham (Midfielders)

Another Manchester City duo gets into the TOTY squad hot on the heels of their incredible 2022/23 season. While De Bruyne has missed most of the first half of the 2023/24 season because of an injury, his incredible contributions to Man City’s remarkable 22/23 campaign cannot be overlooked.

Rodri merits recognition for being the unsung hero of Manchester City’s historic haul in 22/23. Despite not being the most flamboyant player, Rodri’s exceptional work ethic, both defensively and in support play, stands out among his peers.

Jude Bellingham’s arrival at Real Madrid this summer has been nothing less than a major coup. The young Englishman had already showcased his prowess with a strong finish to the 22/23 season at Borussia Dortmund. As a result, he stands as a prime contender to secure a spot in the EA FC 24 TOTY lineup.

Kylian MBappe, Erling Haaland, Lionel Messi (Forwards)

Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland have stepped into the spotlight once occupied by Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi in European football. The prolific goalscorers will surely be on the EA FC 24 TOTY squad, considering their unbelievable scoring stats in 2023. Like MBappe and Haaland, Harry Kane has also hit the 50-goal milestone, but the England national team captain might still miss out on a TOTY spot.

Lionel Messi has experienced a relatively subdued year compared to the extraordinary standards he has set for himself. Still, his historic 8th Ballon d’Or triumph could bolster his position in the TOTY race.

When Will EA FC 24 TOTY Be Revealed?

EA Sports typically reveals the entire squad a day before rolling out the new cards in the game. We anticipate the team’s unveiling on Thursday, January 18, 2024. The cards are expected to go live on the following day, Friday, January 19.

It should be noted that EA Sports is yet to announce the list of TOTY nominees. We expect the official list of nominations to drop on Monday, January 8.

Will There Be A Female TOTY?

The possibility of a female EA FC 24 Team of the Year remains unclear at this point. Yet, with the recent inclusion of females in Ultimate Team for the first time, it seems a plausible direction. As a result, we expect a female EA FC 24 Team of the Year to be unveiled alongside the male team.
