PlayStation announced at the beginning of December that by the end of the month, due to the end of a licensing agreement it would be removing thousands of hours of Discovery TV shows from its platform, even if users had purchased them.Users would no longer be able to watch the shows they paid for, and there would be no option on PlayStation devices for other users to buy them. That isn’t the case anymore, at least for right now. A new licensing agreement has been reached between PlayStation and Warner Bros, the parent company who owns the licensing rights for Discovery TV shows. On Thursday, in an statement updating the situation PlayStation announced “We’ve worked with Warner Bros to update our licensing agreements, ensuring that consumers will be able to access their previously purchased content for at least the next 30 months.”So, for at least the next two and a half years, users will be able to enjoy all the Mythbusters, Cake Boss, Shark Week and more Discovery TV they want. After that it seems like a toss up as to whether or not another new deal will be reached, or if these shows will finally be deleted from the platform.Source – [GamesIndustry.Biz]
