Tom Henderson has weighed in on the cancellation of The Last of Us Online at Naughty Dog, providing some interesting points regarding the economics the project would have faced had it saw the light of day.Speaking on Twitter, Henderson responded to a follower who question why Naughty Dog didn’t simply hire more staff to accommodate the extra work load, given that the Sony-owned studio would have had to put all of its staff into working on the project. Here’s what he had to say:Think about the economics at a base level. If the whole studio needed to work on TLOU MP, that’s 400 employees. If the average salary is $50K, that’s $20M a year in salary alone. Is TLOU MP going to sell 250,000 battle passes a quarter at $20 each over multiple years to cover that base cost? I really do doubt it and they probably did too.Related Content – Sony PS5 Complete Guide – Everything Explained About PlayStation 5 For New Owners In 2023Naughty Dog announced last week that The Last of Us Online had been scrapped, with an image of the game’s main menu leaking online via insider Dusk Golem.
