It’s been only 8 months since the release of Honkai Star Rail and miHoYo’s journey across the stars wants to close out the year of its release with a bang. On the most recent Livestream, they’ve revealed the new 1.6 patch, a release date, and what and who we can expect in the near future. So, here is everything you need to know about the upcoming patch.
Honkai Star Rail 1.6 Release Date
The next step of the Trailblazer’s journey is currently scheduled to be released on December 27, 2023. And the update is supposed to last up until mid-February when you can expect the next stop to be released. As always this update will feature two new banners, a lineup of events, and a new story beat.
Crown of the Mundane and Divine
The next chapter of the Trailblaze Missions will also make its debut in 1.6. We’re heading back to the Herta Space Station which seems to be the focus of the entire patch. But now we’re getting involved with Herta’s colleagues and into potentially more trouble than we were initially asking for.
Honkai Star Rail 1.6 Banners
Not only will the new update feature three new characters, two of which are converted 5-Star picks but also reruns of previously introduced characters Blade and Kafka. Along with these two, there’ll be reruns of the Stellaron Hunter’s Light Cone banners in case you missed out.
Ruan Mei & Blade
Starting from December 27, 2024, to January 17, 2024, are the new character Ruan Mei an Ice, Harmony 5-Star character as well as the rerun of 1.2’s Blade. Along with them come their Light Cone Banners featuring Brilliant Fixation’s Past Self in Mirror for Ruan Mei and Bygone Reminiscence with The Unreachable Side for Blade.
Along with Ruan Mei’s banner, we’ll also see the debut of Xueyi, a Quantum element Destruction fighter as a 4-Star character. From what we’ve seen so far, she’ll also be featured on Ruan Mei’s banner alongside March 7th and Tingyun.
Dr. Ratio & Kafka
From January 17, 2024, to February 7, 2023, we’ll also see the return of everyone’s favorite Stelleron Hunter Kafka as well as the debut of Dr. Ratio a Hunt-type character with the Imaginary element. Both of them come with their respective Light Cone banners with the Brilliant Fixation Baptism of Pure Thought for Dr. Ratio and Bygone Reminisence’s Patience Is All You Need for Kafka.
Do however keep in mind that everyone who plays Honkai Star Rail during the 1.6 event period will be able to claim Dr. Ratio for free.
Honkai Star Rail 1.6 Events
Critter Pick
In this event, players are asked to look and care for a bunch of adorable little zappings on Herta’s space station. For rewards, of course.
Simulated Universe: Gold and Gears
A new update to the Simulated Universe mode that aims to shake up your rogue-like dungeon-crawling adventures with even more elements of chance.
Virtual Scentventure
Here players will compete for points on normal and despair difficulty to gainrewards. How this will play out? We’ll see.
Planar Fissure
Once again players have the chance to once again grind their soul out for those delectable Ornaments to beef up their roster.
Realm of the Strange
A new game mode where players have to outlast and survive neverending hordes of enemies to gain points. Think of it as a kind of endurance mode that’ll test your mettle and your team’s synergy.
Gift of Odyssey
Last but not least, the log-in campaign is making a return. Players who log in for at least 7 days during the period of the event can earn up to 10 Free Star Rail Special Passes to throw at the Limited Character or Light Cone Banners. Good luck!
Miscellaneous Updates
Memory of Chaos
The Forgotten Hall’s Memory of Chaos chapter is getting two new stages as well as the ability to automatically clear earlier chapters perfectly as long as a chapter after chapter 7 has been cleared with three stars. Players will now also be able to save and reuse load-outs used to clear previous chapters.
Calyx Limited Time Feature
A small quality-of-life update will allow players to farm materials off Calyxes from maps they haven’t explored yet. This means you won’t get stuck while progressing through the story and catching up.
Easier Dailies
On stream, it was mentioned that there would now be an easier way to complete Daily Training missions. How that will turn out is still left to be seen.
