Apart from a sneak peek at the new Vice City, we got to see the new protagonist, who is surprisingly not male. Lucia stole the limelight as the lead character in the newly released GTA VI trailer, but is she the only protagonist in the game? Who is Lucia in GTA VI? Leaks that date back more than a year from now revealed Lucia and Jason as the primary characters in GTA VI, and the official artwork also shows them together. It’s unlikely, therefore, that Lucia is the only protagonist in the game.
Original reports depicted them as siblings trying to survive in the Vice City, but the trailer makes us believe they are romantic partners rather than brother and sister. We don’t know much about Jason right now, so Lucia currently takes center stage as the game’s protagonist.
Who is Lucia in GTA VI?
Our first peek at Lucia shows her meeting a parole officer while dressed in a prison uniform. It’s uncertain if this scene kicks off her GTA 6 journey or serves as a flashback. The trailer doesn’t tell us what her role will be exactly like, but from what we have seen, it doesn’t seem like she is pursuing the path of redemption.
Lucia’s demeanor towards crime is notably nonchalant, aligning well with the typical disposition of a GTA protagonist. When questioned about her incarceration, her response, a casual “Bad luck I guess,” suggests an indifferent attitude toward her predicament. This laid-back response appears fitting, especially considering the misadventures she engages in later in the trailer. Her relaxed approach to the question hints at a character unburdened by the gravity of her past actions, hinting at the unpredictable and audacious exploits she’s likely to pursue in the game.
As the trailer unfolds, Lucia handles firearms, careens through the streets with trademark GTA-style recklessness (a staple of the series!), commits store robberies, and garners attention on social media. Jason appears to be her partner in crime, with whom she is also romantically involved.
Lucia is also the first-ever GTA protagonist to have Latin American roots. Her ethnicity perfectly complements the Miami-esque ambiance of Vice City, adding an authentic and fitting dimension to the game’s setting.
Rockstar has kept everything else under wraps about Lucia. We don’t know for sure who voiced her in the game. What led her to a life of crime is also unknown as of now.
