Without warning, preorders for an English translation of the Shin Megami Tensei tabletop RPG rulebook went live on Amazon this week. The Shin Megami Tensei: The Roleplaying Game has existed in Japan since 1993 and has seen numerous editions and revisions over the years, but no versions have been localized in English, making the English release’s sudden appearance on Amazon all the more exciting.

Neither Sega, Atlus, nor the rulebook’s publisher have announced the full details on the release, but the Amazon store page says the English hardcover edition of Shin Megami Tensei: The Roleplaying Game – Tokyo Conception will launch for $50 on February 20, 2024. LionWing Publishing is listed as the publisher. The company has previously localized and published English versions of other Japanese tabletop games like Embryo Machine, Gun and Gun, Convictor Drive, and more.

Shin Megami Tensei: The Roleplaying Game – Tokyo Conception is the fourth edition of the tabletop RPG and is based on the world and gameplay concepts of Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne. It originally launched in Japan back in September 2004 and was followed up by an expansion, Mala Underground, a few months later. Whether the English version will include the expansion material remains to be seen. The game’s fifth and latest edition, Shin Megami Tensei TRPG Mato Tokyo 200X, was released in Japan in 2005 but does not seem to be a part of the English release either.

Whatever the case, it appears fans will be able to create their own demon-infested tabletop adventures once the Shin Megami Tensei: The Roleplaying Game – Tokyo Conception English version launches on February 20, 2024.
