WoW Season of Discovery Phase 2 Infos

Dec 1, 2023

Here is everything we learned about WoW Season of Discovery Phase 2.

As Season of Discovery launches, we learned more about the upcoming Phase 2 of this new take on Classic. For the uninitiated, World of Warcraft Season of Discovery is a brand new take on WoW Classic in a similar manner to Season of Mastery. This time around instead of focusing on difficulty, SoD brings sweeping changes to almost every aspect of Classic WoW.

One of these big changes is the phases in which the game will be rolled out. The first phase will cap players at level 25, the second at level 40, then 50, 60 and then we’ll see where the journey takes us. Another change is Runes which can significantly change the way you play your class.

On top of that, there are a myriad of smaller and bigger changes such as the rework of some dungeons, new quests being added, and entirely new PvP and endgame activities that will change as we progress through the phases. Season of Discovery is launching on November 30, 2023, and progresses through the phases every few months.

WoW Season of Discovery Phase 2

Thanks to a recent output by Blizzard, we have a good idea of what players can expect for the upcoming Phase 2. Keep in mind that everything listed here is still subject to change and can and will change at a moment’s notice.

Phase 2 Raid

The second Raid tier of Season of Discovery will be everyone’s favorite factory of doom Gnomeregan, most likely including all your favorite little gimmicks like getting stuck behind collapsing walls and falling.

For those who worry about the Horde side of things, there will be a special quest that will allow Horde players to sneak behind enemy lines and enter the raid without getting jumped by the Alliance.

As for changes, it’s left to be seen how much Gnomeregan will change in Phase 2. But if Blackfathom Deep (the version at Blizzcon was tuned down) is anything to go by, you can expect some if not very big changes to the structure of this new raid.

Phase 2 PvP

While there is nothing set in stone yet, Blizzard has already teased that the Phase 2 PvP zone will be Strangethorne Vale. It’s however left to be seen if this PvP mode will be similar to the one in Ashenvale. Chances are it will still be some take on capturing bases and killing faction leaders to secure victory.

They have also floated the idea of changing the dedicated PvP zone during the different Phases.

As for rewards and so on, we have yet to see how things play out. After all, now that Season of Discovery is out, players will do their best to break it and mess with what is already there. And Blizzard will have to make adjustments accordingly.

Phase 2 Questing and Leveling

When it comes to questing, aside from the new ones added to Phase 1 with the Runes, you can expect even more of them come Phase 2. Now that doesn’t mean that Blizzard won’t make new quest like they have done for Phase 1.

Leveling is also expected to stay the same for the most part, just the selection of dungeons will be much more limited. This begs the question of what Blizzard is doing with the ever-popular Scarlet Monastery and its 4 wings. The idea that it would be turned into a raid was initially floated, otherwise during the leveling process from 25 to 40 players would spend the entire time killing our friends in red.

And that sums up everything we got in Phase 2 of Season of Discovery. For more on World of Warcraft and this new take on Classic, check out our guide on all the addons should install ahead of time, our prep guide before getting started, and everything you need to know about the new rune system.
