Mintrocket has been on a bit of a roll as of late. Just earlier this year they released their breakout title Dave the Diver to massive international success, but it only seems to be a primer to their next project. A PvPvE third-person extraction shooter with melee combat and zombies.
So here are all the reasons why you should care and what you can expect from Mintrocket’s upcoming title.
What is Nakwon Last Paradise?
The extraction survival genre has been on the rise ever since Escape from Tarkov burst out of the DayZ-esque games which also evolved into the Battle Royale trend. Nakwon aims to put zombies back into the genre but also wants to provide a fresh more focused take on DayZs.
Nakwon sets itself apart by being based on Korean Zombie movies which tend to focus more on survival horror and zombies than what you’d see on something like The Walking Dead. The game will also have a stronger focus on stealth as zombies are attracted by noise and light.
Nakwon Last Paradise Gameplay
Nakwon Last Paradise will see players venture into different sections of the city of Nakwon, Korea to scavenge for supplies and fight for their daily survival. Since zombies are fast, vigilant, and dangerous you’ll need to employ stealth tactics to sneak around and secure loot.
But you will also have to fight against other players for those scarce resources. Since this is Korea, guns are rare and should only be used as a last line of defense, since a single gunshot will attract the horde. That is why the game has a melee combat system that forces you to make good use of everything you might find.
Play defensively, avoid trouble, and pick your battles. That is the only way to survive and live another day.
All of this is tied to a progression system based on the value of the loot you extract. Having more money to pay for a home and better equipment will grant you access to even more. The game will have a strong focus on simulation outside of looting and surviving on the streets. You have to make sure that your character is fed, cared for, and equipped to go out again.
It also looks like you’ll be able to trade with NPC merchants and raise your reputation with them and it wouldn’t surprise us if the game adds quests later down the line.
Nakwon Last Paradise Release Date
As of writing, there is no release date planned for Nakwon: Last Paradise. The game is currently in Alpha and will probably remain in that state for quite some time. But there is some good news. From November 30th to December 4th, 2023 there is a network test on Steam that everyone can opt into.
This closed network test will be available on Steam with no preregistration necessary. Progress will not be carried over into the next test or the final game so you get to explore and try out the game’s many mechanics.
According to the developers, this alpha network test will not represent the difficulty of the final game. They have intentionally tuned down the aggressiveness of the zombies so players can check out all the mechanics.
