Back in the hazy mists of time (2019) Rare unveiled Everwild as its brand new IP during X019. It immediately caught everyone’s attention with its vibrant art style and bizarre, alien-like creatures, but we’ve heard little from the game since — now, however, a job listing has appeared which encouragingly still lists Everwild as “Rare’s next title.”Apart from a few trailers, we haven’t heard much about Everwild since its announcement. A report surfaced several years ago that suggested Everwild was targeting a 2024 release after being “restarted from scratch” — something that was a little disheartening to hear back in 2021 but would be great news now. Then, just at the start of this year, the game’s executive producer Louise O’Connor gave us more hope that Rare’s new IP was still in the works, saying that Everwild’s team was ready to “warm up… for our year ahead.” Now, a Video Producer job listing from Rare says they’re looking for someone to work on video content both for Sea of Thieves “as well as Rare’s next title, Everwild.” All is not lost! Everwild is still on the way, and we can’t wait! All we know about the game so far is that we’ll be one of the Eternals, someone with a magical connection with nature and Everwild’s strange creatures. The Rare site tells us it’s a “restorative magical, natural world filled with creatures, spirits, wonder and friendship.” It’s been a long time with no update on the game, however, so let’s hope Rare has some more news planned for next year. We’ll keep an eye out just in case Rare decides to squeeze in some news before the end of 2023 as a little Everwild holiday gift. You never know, The Game Awards are coming up…
