Following Larian Studios CEO Swen Vincke’s confirmation that the Xbox version of Baldur’s Gate 3 is the playtesting stage, a leak last week supposedly revealed the game’s release date. According to Larian’s director of publishing Michael Douse, though, the leak was a fake. He was nice enough to confirm that it’s still expected to launch on Xbox Series X|S before the end of the year though.The supposed leak (via Eurogamer) suggested that Baldur’s Gate 3 will launch on December 6 for Xbox Series X|S “if playtests proceed as planned.” That doesn’t look to be the case, however. In response to Eurogamer’s story on X, Larian’s director of publishing Michael Douse said that the release date is “news to me.” “We’ll know the release date once we’re confident in the release version,” Douse said in a follow-up post. “The plan is still before the end of the year. The key takeaway here should be that we want a really good version that Xbox fans deserve. This means we’ll work on it until we’re happy to release it.”It shouldn’t be too much longer until we can start collecting Baldur’s Gate 3 achievements, as the studio’s CEO Swen Vincke says that playtesting is currently underway. With both Vincke and Douse continuing to reassure fans that we’ll be playing Baldur’s Gate 3 in 2023, we could finally be rolling for initiative next month.
