Sony has announced its latest acquisition, and it’s not a big studio or publisher, but instead iSIZE, a company based in the UK that is “specializing in deep learning for video delivery.”“iSIZE builds AI-powered solutions to deliver bitrate savings and quality improvements for the media and entertainment industry.” Sony said in a statement announcing its intent to acquire iSIZE.For Sony, it says that this acquisition “provides SIE with a significant expertise in applying machine learning to video processing, which will benefit a range of our R&D (Research & Development) efforts as well as our video and streaming services.”If this acquisition goes through, it could be that iSIZE helps support Sony in beginning to properly build its streaming services to the point where it’ll be a service players look towards.Especially with the recent launch of streaming PS5 games for those subscribed to the Premium tier of PS Plus.
