In a message to investors, Remedy Entertainment CEO Tero Virtala has provided updates on projects it has in development, including Control 2 and the Max Payne 1 & 2 remakes. According to Virtala, Control 2 is still in the proof-of-concept stage, which is where it will remain for a little while longer. “The plans for this sequel are ambitious, and we have seen good progress both in the designs and in the game build,” Virtala said. “We will continue at this stage for the next few quarters. We focus on proving the identified key elements before moving to the next stage and scaling up the team.”As for the Max Payne 1 & 2 remakes, Virtala notes that the project has now progressed into the “production readiness” stage, and that Remedy has “gained clarity on the style and scope of the game” and that an “exceptionally well-organized team [is] working on it.” He added, “With these accomplishments, we are excited about the project and its future success. As for other games Remedy has in the works, Condor, a Control co-op multiplayer spin-off, has now moved from the proof-of-concept stage and into the production readiness stage. Virtala says Remedy has “acquired valuable insights into developing service-based games and are now in a better position to create a game players can engage with for years.” When it comes to Codename Vanguard, Remedy’s free-to-play co-op multiplayer game that’s being published by Tencent, Virtala said, “We are defining the next stages of the project with our publishing partner. At the same time the project is aiming towards completing the proof-of-concept stage by the end of the year.”Another interesting tidbit from Virtala in the note to investors was that Alan Wake Remastered managed to recoup its development and marketing costs during Remedy’s third quarter of 2023. As for Alan Wake 2, Virtala said, “It is too early to draw conclusions on the game’s commercial success,” though “fans and critics have appreciated it giving the game a strong basis for good long-term sales.”In other Alan Wake 2 news, Remedy recently released two updates, fixing a broken achievement. The developer has also teased two expansions for Alan Wake 2: Night Springs and Lake House.
