The High Price to Pay Starfield Mission puts players in a difficult position. Half of the Constellation Faction are on Vlad’s Space Station, but another half of the Constellation are in the Lodge. These Starfield factions are a driving force in a lot of the missions. With an attack coming, players have to make a fast choice. You have two High Price to Pay Starfield choices, but both can be dangerous.
Essentially, between the two options, someone will always die. Players have to pick who. The potential victims are limited to one set of characters in Starfield. The four romanceable characters are all at risk here. These are the characters who can end up in danger.

Those are the four characters at risk in the High Price to Pay Starfield mission. One of these companions will be at the Lodge for the choice and the other three will head over to the Eye. You have the choice between going to these two spots.
If you go you choose to head to the Eye, then the companion who has stuck around at the Lodge will die. On the other hand, if you go to the Lodge then one of the characters at the Eye will die. Basically, you have to pick who dies with the High Price to Pay Starfield Choices. Although, there’s a way to get more exact.
You can look further into the choices and how they’re impacted by your relationships with them. Then you can make sure the character who dies in the High Price to Pay Mission is someone you’re willing to sacrifice.
Who Dies When You Stay at the Lodge?
If you choose to stay at the Lodge for the High Price to Pay Starfield choices, you’ll skip some running around. However, one companion will still die.
It’s hard to predict which companions will be in what place for each playthrough, because of the complexity of relationships with them. So far though, it seems like the second-closest relationship companion will be at the Lodge with you. Then the closest along with third and fourth closest will be at the eye. However, there could be other factors that affect this too.
If you choose to stay at the Lodge, then you’re sacrificing a character at the Eye. If you’re okay with this choice based on how the companions moved, then you’ll eventually see Walter get attacked by the Hunter. While you end up fleeing to your ship, you’re unable to kill the Hunter. You can only attack him to make him flee. Doing this will grant a special high weapon tier Laser Rifle though, so that might be worth doing. Once you’re finished you can fly to the Eye to see who died, in this case, likely the companion closest to you has died in the High Price to Pay Starfield mission.
Who Dies if You Go to The Eye?
The other one of the High Price to Pay Starfield choices comes if you head to the Eye instead. Just like with the last option, it’s difficult to predict which companions will be where just because it’s impacted by your closeness to each companion.
If you head to the Eye, you’ll have to leave as soon as possible to get there. If you can go fast enough then you’ll get there to find that nobody is dead. However, once you return to the Lodge the companion who stayed behind will be dead. You’ll then get the same side of the mission as in the other High Price to Pay Starfield choices.
Those are the two choices that are open to you when you’re completing this mission. One of them is going to die no matter which way you slice it. It really just comes down to which companion you’re okay with dying.
Can You Do the High Price to Pay Starfield Mission Without Someone Dying?
Those are the two choices, but can you pick one of them and escape with nobody dying? It’s tempting to assume you could get there faster if you had a better Starfield ship or just moved more efficiently, but there isn’t a way out of this mission. Players will find somebody dead no matter which of the High Price to Pay Starfield choices they make. There just isn’t a solution where nobody dies.
High Price to Pay Starfield Bug
While players have been going through this major section in the story, quite a few have run into some pretty annoying bugs. These have included being unable to land on the Lodge, getting a black screen and other problems. These bugs can pretty much all be resolved by restarting the game. They’ll likely all be patched in the future too. If you’re looking for a High Price to Pay Starfield bug that lets you escape without killing a companion though, none of these do this. The bugs simply stop progression, they can’t save your companions from death in the High Price to Pay Starfield mission.
