It wasn’t what I was expecting to write about today, but Microsoft’s latest announcement is the Xbox Mastercard. According to Microsoft, it has no annual fee and will let you use the card points you earn from your purchases to redeem on games and more at xbox.com, and it’ll only be available to Xbox Insiders. So, the important bits: the card, issued from Barclays, will be available to any Xbox Insiders “in the continental United States, Alaska, and Hawaii” and you can apply for one from September 21, with the cards “available in waves… throughout this fall”. You earn card points for every $1 you spend. Buying any “eligible products” from the Microsoft Store will get you 5x card points. Dining delivery services such as Grubhub and DoorDash, and streaming services like Netflix and Disney+, will net you 3x card points. All other “everyday purchases” will get you 1x card points. Microsoft also lists other benefits on its Xbox Wire announcement post, including the fact that you’ll get 5,000 card points, which are apparently worth $50, after you make your first purchase. If you’re new to Xbox Game Pass, meanwhile, you’ll get three months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate after your first purchase, or else gift it to a friend. The Annual Percentage Rate (APR) is either 20.99, 26.99, or 31.99 percent based on creditworthiness. You can find the full terms and conditions for the Xbox Mastercard here.We were hoping for more Xbox Game Pass news, but in the meantime…
