At this point, we’re wondering if the Skull and Bones achievements will ever surface from the briny deep. According to a new report, Ubisoft’s swashbuckling adventure game has lost yet another creative director. Skull and Bones creative director leaves Ubisoft SingaporeKotaku reports that Elisabeth Pellen, who started work on Skull and Bones back in 2018 and was responsible for later rebooting the game, left Ubisoft Singapore this summer to return to the publisher’s Paris headquarters. Pellen’s departure means that Skull and Bones has lost three creative directors since its announcement in 2017.”Five years ago, Elisabeth Pellen went to Ubisoft Singapore with a mission to reboot the creative direction of Skull and Bones,” a Ubisoft spokesperson told Kotaku. “She succeeded, and the Skull and Bones team is now fulfilling her vision to deliver a unique naval action RPG experience to our players.” The publisher also added that “it’s not uncommon for a creative director to move on to a new project or role,” but it’s been claimed that Pellen was expected to stay at Ubisoft Singapore until the end of the year.Kotaku’s report also mentions that the Singapore studio faces an organized labor campaign from Singapore’s Creative Media and Publishing Union.Over the past six years, Skull and Bones has been delayed a whopping six times and still doesn’t have a release date. In January, Ubisoft said Skull and Bones would set sail “early” on in the publisher’s 2023-24 fiscal year, which obviously hasn’t happened.Ubisoft did hold a closed beta test last month for Skull and Bones, so hopefully, we’ll hear more about the game soon.
