While many players are currently focused on collecting Starfield achievements and exploring the vastness of the universe, Bethesda’s head of publishing has spoken about the Earth-based vampire shooter, Redfall, from Arkane Austin, which launched earlier this year to a fairly poor reception. Hines says that Arkane will “get it to be a good game because we know, as a first-party studio, Game Pass lives forever.”Arkane will make Redfall “a good game,” Pete Hines saysWhen speaking with GamesIndustry.biz, Hines said that Bethesda is “always in the process of learning” when asked if the poor reception of Redfall had put pressure on Bethesda Game Studios and the launch of Starfield. “We don’t like failing to meet our players’ expectations,” Hines said. “At the same time, we are the same company that has had launches that didn’t go the way we wanted, and we don’t quit or abandon stuff just because it didn’t start right.”Hines says that Redfall is “no different” for Bethesda than The Elder Scrolls Online or Fallout 76, both of which had rocky starts but now have thriving communities. “We didn’t get the start we wanted, but it’s still a fun game… and we’re going to keep working on it,” Hines said. “We’re going to do 60fps. We’re going to get it to be a good game because we know, as a first-party studio, Game Pass lives forever. There will be people ten years from now who are going to join Game Pass, and Redfall will be there.”Earlier this year, Microsoft accepted some responsibility for Redfall’s troubles, with head of Xbox Game Studios Matt Booty saying: “We could have done a better job of onboarding” Arkane Austin following Microsoft’s acquisition of ZeniMax.If you’re looking forward to Bethesda’s next game, Starfield is just one of the many games coming to Game Pass this month.
