Announced at the end of July, YouTube Gaming has partnered with streamer Ludwig to host the World’s Greatest Gaming Tournament. Ludwig revealed four competitors each week in August, with the players engaging in two-hour bootcamps to prepare for the upcoming tournament.

20 gamers, who are a mix of professional Esports pros and streamers, have gathered today to compete in the World’s Greatest Gaming Tournament:

The Games
The 20 competitors will compete in 11 different games, popular titles young and old, one of which is currently a surprise:
- Street Fighter 6
- Trackmania
- XDefiant
- Tetris
- Minecraft
- Genshin Impact
- LEGO 2K Drive
- Fortnite
- Rocket League
- Fall Guys
The tournament has a healthy mix of games that won’t allow one competitor to dominate all of them. Sonic Fox will likely annihilate the competition on Street Fighter 6. TenZ will probably perform the best in games like XDefiant and Fortnite, but most other titles are anyone’s game.

Many fans are excited about XDefiant’s inclusion in the World’s Greatest Gaming Tournament. It’s the Ubisoft arena shooter that half of Call of Duty fans are worried about, and half are itching to start playing themselves. There’s still no official release date for XDefiant, despite an initial projected Summer 2023 release, so fans will take any piece of XDefiant content they can.
Day 1 of the World’s Greatest Gamign Tournament will have round-robin second, and Day 2 is when the eliminations start. The XDefiant competition will begin on day 2, September 3, at 12:00 PM PT. Two six-player teams will face each other in several game modes, including Domination, Hot Shot, Escort, and Occupy. It will be a best-of-five series.
