Eldritch Blast
Arguably the best damage cantrip in all of Baldur’s Gate 3. Eldritch Blast can fire up to 4 devastating 1d10 Force projectiles. On top of that, you can target a different enemy with each blast, costing 1 Action and 0 spellslots. Moreover, Eldritch Blast can be augmented further with the Warklock’s Eldritch Invocations, giving it more reach, lethality and save conditions that makes it an S-tier pick.
Magic Missile
A spell that hones in on the target, Magic Missile doesn’t require any attack rolls and instead automatically hit the target, forcing an enemy to maintain their concentration on a spell. What’s more is that you can use higher-levelled spellslots to fire more than 3 projectiles, with the Shield Spell being the only counter.
Light
An underappreciated cantrip. The fact that Light lasts until the next long rest makes it a valuable party trick, especially when you enter the 2nd act of BG3.
Spiritual Weapon
A cleric’s best friend, Spiritual Weapon conjures a floating weapon type of your choosing. The spell itself only needs a 2nd level spellslot and a Bonus Action to cast, but what puts it on A-tier is the fact that it doesn’t require concentration. Spiritual Weapon also lets you contribute to the team’s damage output when you aren’t using your Bonus Action to cast healing spells.
Gust of Wind
A versatile spell that multiple classes can use, Gust of Wind is extremely helpful in removing harmful gas effects in an area. Besides that, the spell is also commonly found in scroll form. Clear poison gas and deadly spores using this level 2 spell.
Flame Blade
Who said Druids couldn’t be badass? Summon this fiery saber to dole out 3d6 fire worth of damage to your foes when they get uncomfortably close.
Crusader’s Mantle
While Paladin spells are fiercely tied to their identities, Crusader’s Mantle takes it on a whole new level. Infiltrating a den of vampires? Clearing out a basement full of nasty ghosts? Shed a light on the situation by letting nearby allies deal additional radiant damage in their attacks. Deus Vult!
