To say that Persona 5 worked out well for Atlus and Sega would be an understatement. Persona 5 and its rerelease Persona 5 Royal Edition are hailed as some of the greatest RPGs of all time and rightfully so. It’s the combination of extravagated visual swagger with diligently crafted characters that got people attached to its world.
After Persona 5: Dancing in Starlight, Persona 5 Strikers and PersonaQ 2. We’ve got yet another spin-off with the Phantom Thieves. This time in the style of a Tactical RPG akin to Tactics: Ogre, Fire Emblem, and even XCOM. We’ve prepared a little rundown of everything you need about Persona 5 Tactica.
What is Persona 5 Tactica Story?
Persona 5 Tactica is a Tactical RPG spin-off set in the later stages of Persona 5’s story. After being transported into an unfamiliar world known as “The Kingdoms” the Phantom Thieves are attacked by a group calling themselves Legionnaires.
While trying to figure out their situation, they are rescued by the mysterious Erina who asks them to join her revolution.
That’s pretty much all we know so far about the story so far. But since this is a Persona spin-off expect some character-related hijinks with the usual banter and a twist that will leave you depressed for at least a week or so.
Persona 5 Tactica Gameplay
Gameplaywise, Persona 5 seems to take inspiration from classic Tactical RPGs such as Fire Emblem and Final Fantasy Tactics. But much of it also seems to take inspiration from the recent success of Ubisoft’s Mario + Rabbits franchise.
Some of the staples such as grid-based movement and different levels of elevations. But mix in the usual Persona combat with elemental weaknesses, physical and Persona attacks as well as the various team-up mechanics and you get something truly unique.
The game will also feature the classic All Out Attack, this time called Triple Threat attack which’s damage seems to be determined by different levels of elevation. The ability to fuse and combine different Persona’s also makes a return, allowing players to create entirely new Personas.
Persona 5 Tactica Release Date

Persona 5 Tactica Platforms
Persona 5 Tactica will be available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Additionally, the game will also be available in its base version on the Xbox Game Pass from Day 1 onwards.
Persona 5 Tactica Editions
The game will also be released in 3 different versions on all platforms. Please keep in mind that some of the extra content won’t be available if you’re using the Xbox Game Pass version.
The Digital Standard Edition will include the full game as well as the Persona 3 Persona Orpheus in the Picaro styling and Persona 4 Persona Izanagi which will also be in the Picaro styling.
The Physical Launch Edition will include the full game, both the previous protagonist Persona’s and Morgana and Joker-themed coasters for anyone who preorders it.
Last but not least is the Digital Deluxe Edition which will include all the contents of the Digital Standard Edition as well as the Picaro Summoning Pack which includes the following Personas:

- Persona: Athena Picaro
- Persona: Messiah Picaro
- Persona: M. Izanagi Picaro

In addition, it will also include the Repaint Your Heart Challenge Pack which will add Challenges and formations to the Main Game and two additional characters from Persona 5 Royal Edition: Goro Akechi and Kasumi Yoshizawa. And lastly, it will also include the Weapon Pack which features unique Picaro-themed weapon skins.
