Banishers: Ghost of New Eden showed up again during the just concluded Gamescom 2023. The game developed by DON’T NOD (creators of Life is Strange, for example) has always proved to be an interesting project, since its very first announcement. After knowing the official date just over a month ago, new details about the gameplay and the duration of the game have now emerged, thanks also to a video published by IGN. In this article, therefore, we wanted to collect everything we know about the game in one place, so that you can be ready as soon as the game is released.

As we said, the official launch date for Banishers: Ghost of New Eden was announced just over a month ago. The game will be available to play starting November 7, 2023. As a result, it means that it won’t be long before players can get their hands on this new IP developed by the guys at DON’T NOD.

Banishers: Ghost of New Eden will be available to all players on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Unfortunately, as is increasingly common now, there are no versions for older generation consoles, as they would (much) limit the technical side of the game. For this reason, fewer and fewer development studios are still aiming to release games for older consoles.

Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden is about a pair of ghost hunters who are tasked with protecting people from this menace. One day, however, it happens that Antea is transformed into a ghost and the player’s task will be, in the role of Red, to look for any way to save her, combining both Red’s abilities and Antea’s supernatural ones.
The Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden campaign, which will take you about 20 to 30 hours to complete, will undoubtedly present us with some really difficult decisions to make, just like in any other game created by DON’T NOD. In any case, as they will show to be crucial for the progression of the narrative and which will have an impact on how the events we will encounter during the adventure play out, these decisions will need to be taken with a thorough knowledge of the facts.
This is the original description of the game: “New Eden, 1695. Antea Duarte and Red mac Raith are lovers and Banishers, ghost-hunters who vowed to protect the living from the threat of lingering ghosts and specters. Following a disastrous last mission, Antea is fatally wounded, becoming one of the spirits she loathes. In the haunted wilds of North America, the couple desperately searches for a way to liberate Antea from her new plight.”

During Gamescom 2023, thanks to colleagues from IGN, we were able to take a more in-depth look at what the gameplay is, especially as regards the combat system. Although it is not the strong point of the game, according to what can be seen from the video that you will find at the bottom of the article, it seems to make use of some interesting dynamics.
You can, for instance, exchange control at any point from Red to the ghost of your deceased companion Antea, and vice versa. In addition to a rifle that deals a ton of damage but takes a while to reload, the man also uses a blade, a torch, and runs the danger of being out in the open as the adversary launches an assault. The powerful spirit powers that Antea utilizes, on the other hand, deplete her magic bar, which also serves as a representation of her life force and can only be replenished by connecting with Red. To win a combat in practice, you will need to swap between characters.
For the rest, Banishers: Ghost of New Eden is a DON’T NOD style action RPG, this means that the plot is shaped by us based on our choices, as we have already explained. For this reason, we think the real focus of the game is exploration and finding plot clues that may lead you to one event rather than another. In this sense, therefore, we will have to make crucial choices for the story of the game, always keeping in mind all the details that we have discovered up to that moment, in order to make what for us is the right choice to make.
