With just one day left on the regular season schedule, four teams are in a position to shore up the two AL Wild Card spots still available. Right now the Yankees and Red Sox control their won destiny, but the pesky Seattle Mariners have roared out of the depths of the Pacific to assert themselves as a contender in Game 162.
It’s been a bumpy ride, though, to say the least.
Seattle has been on the razor’s edge for a while now and almost fell out of the playoff chase on Saturday night. After falling behind to the Los Angeles Angles in a must-win game, the Mariners embarked on an epic comeback to win the game, keep the postseason dream alive, and energize a fan base that has been riding on the edge of their seats for a month.
Dave Sims was on the call for the Mariner play-by-play and made the moment even more amazing with his awesome call of the play.

This is what October baseball sounds like. The postseason might not have started yet, but the drama is just as intense. Seattle’s comeback is a theme, as they’ve roared back from posting its 21st-straight irrelevant season to be in a position to clinch the franchise’s first postseason berth since 2001 on the final day of the season.
So while the call of Saturday night’s comeback was incredible, it’s a microcosm of what it’s been like to be a Mariners fan during this insane stretch of mint September baseball the team has been playing.
