Former Oregon offensive lineman Penei Sewell expressed the feelings of Ducks fans all over with a tweet about the loss to Stanford.

After a heartbreaking upset loss, the best way to respond is three simple letters: Smh.

That was the response from Penei Sewell after he watched Oregon fall in overtime to Stanford.

Sewell was exuberant on Twitter after the Ducks pulled an upset against Ohio State a couple of weeks ago. He hadn’t tweeted much since, so his short tweet summed up a whole lot of frustration.

Penei Sewell shook his head at Oregon’s loss to Stanford

The Lions’ offensive lineman and former Duck could have been shaking his head at a whole host of things.

Oregon fell behind to Stanford early, coming back from a 17-7 deficit at halftime to take control in the second half.

Things went very wrong in the final minutes of the game with the Ducks leading by a touchdown. A string of penalties and head-scratching time management ended with the Cardinal getting the ball back with all three timeouts and just under two minutes on the clock.

Stanford got several gifts on their final drive of regulation, including a questionable targeting call ejecting Kayvon Thibodeaux and another roughing the passer penalty moving them closer. Then the refs called defensive holding on what would have been the last play of the game and Stanford scored on the untimed down.

In overtime, the Cardinal found the endzone while the Ducks were held out.

Whether it was for the performance, the refs, the missed opportunities or the playoff implications, there was plenty to bemoan.
