Konami is rumoured to be working on new entries into the Metal Gear, Silent Hill, and Castlevania series as it ramps up development to enter the premium games space once more. According to a new report from VGC, an anonymous publishing source revealed that Konami is looking to develop new instalments and remakes for some of its biggest franchises. “Following a restructure to the company’s game development divisions earlier this year, Konami is now focused on bringing back its biggest brands to the premium games space,” VGC’s report reads. The first title that will reportedly surface will be a new Castlevania game that’s being described as a “reimagining of the series” and is currently in development with Konami in Japan. As for Metal Gear, a new entry into the series is in early development with Virtuous (not Bluepoint as many had originally thought) who has worked on games such as Battlefield 1, Battlefield V, Uncharted 4, and more, according to the report. Multiple sources have told VGC that the project is “centred around fan-favourite entry Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, rather than the original MGS.” Konami also reportedly has plans to release remasters of the original Metal Gear Solid games for modern consoles. The report also notes that “multiple” Silent Hill games are currently in development with external studios and that Konami is planning to publicly announce its plans for its new games at major gaming events in 2022.While all of this sounds exciting, and VGC is usually incredibly reliable with this sort of information, it’s worth taking the news with a pinch of salt until Konami announces something official.
