Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is shaping up to be one of the biggest PS5 games of 2023. The game itself has been available to preorder since June, but big Spidey fans will have the chance to add a limited-edition PS5, DualSense controller, and PlayStation 5 faceplate to their collection tomorrow. The recently revealed Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 limited-edition will be available to preorder tomorrow, July 28, at 7 AM PT / 10 AM ET. PlayStation is also selling the DualSense controller and faceplate separately, so current PS5 owners can give their console a Spider-Man makeover.
Preorders will be available at PS Direct as well as major retailers. Though PlayStation hasn’t announced which retailers will be carrying the console and accessories, we’d expect all three products to be up for grabs at the usual places: Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, GameStop, and Target. We’d also expect all three items to sell out quickly, so you’ll have to move fast. Bookmark this page, as we will be tracking stock and updating this preorder guide regularly throughout the day.
The console and accessories launch on September 1, well before Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s October 20 release date. Featuring Peter Parker, Miles Morales, and a whole suite of supervillains (including the fan-favorite Venom), the sequel is looking to improve upon everything that made the original such as hit. The Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Limited Edition Bundle is the most compelling item up for grabs, as it pulls together a PS5 with the Spider-Man 2 faceplate, a Spider-Man 2 controller, and a digital copy of the upcoming game. Of course, it’s also expected to be incredibly popular, so be sure to head over to PS Direct or another authorized retailer and try to work your way to the front of the queue.
PS5 bundles with games typically cost $560, but we’d expect this bundle to be priced higher–probably around $600.
If you already own a PS5, there’s no reason to spring for the above bundle. Instead, you can snag a Spider-Man 2 faceplate. These are available for the standard PS5 and digital edition. Featuring an aggressive front plate with a black and red design, along with a white Spider-Man logo, it’s arguably the best official PS5 faceplate yet. The back plate, meanwhile, is a standard black.
Standard faceplates cost $55, so the Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 edition will likely be around that price (probably a bit more).
Don’t want to mess around with swapping out your faceplate? You can still join in on the web-slinging fun by picking up the Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 DualSense controller. This is the traditional DualSense with a black and red color scheme. That means it offers adaptive triggers, haptic feedback, and everything else that makes the DualSense one of the most technologically advanced controllers around.
We’d expect the controller to cost $75, just like the God of War: Ragnarok DualSense.
While preorders are open today, none of these items are expected to start shipping until September 1. So if all the units sell out before you get a chance to reserve one, there’s a good possibility a new shipment will arrive in the coming months–so keep your eyes peeled for restocks at your favorite retailers.
