Jalin Turner wanted a statement win to earn the respect of fans, and he earned it and more in earning a first-round submission over Uros Medic at UFC 266.

Turner used his six-inch reach advantage to stifle Medic on the feet, utilizing his speed to put Medic completely off balance. He earned a big takedown halfway through the round before the fight moved back up to the feet.

Turner went back to the standup with some hard body shots that hurt Medic badly, forcing him to drop to the canvas. Turner poured on some brutal ground-and-pound strikes before getting Medic’s back and the rear-naked choke for the win.

Medic is no longer undefeated in his professional career after the loss to Turner.

Jalin Turner adds to the bright future in the UFC lightweight division

Medic came into the fight as one of the hottest prospects in the lightweight division, after his time on Dana White’s Contender Series followed by his UFC debut win over Aalon Cruz. Medic won his debut in style with a first-round knockout thanks to a blitz of punches on the feet.

Turner entered T-Mobile Arena as an under-the-radar name on the UFC 266 card, as a DWCS alum and back-to-back wins over Brok Weaver and Joshua Culibao. At 26 years old, he has a bright future in the UFC.

With the submission finish, Turner has a chance to go on a run in the division and move up the rankings sooner rather than later.
