Warhammer 40k Leviathan Box Unit Datasheets are Here

Warhammer 40k Leviathan Box received a release date yesterday and today, we can finally take a look at the new units’ datasheets!

If the leaks are true, the 10th Edition of Warhammer 40k is releasing on the 24th of June, alongside the Leviathan Box, the Starter Kit of the new Edition. This box will contain some amazing new miniatures, and Games Workshop chose the new Tyranid and Space Marine models to showcase the first full datasheets of the next Edition!

We have seen parts, or even almost-whole datasheets in the Faction Focuses released in the last few weeks: we took a look at the Thousand Sons, the Grey Knights, the Death Guard, the Aeldari and the unique Space Marine Chapters (such as Dark Angels and Black Templars), but we only saw a few select rules to get us excited about the new world of Warhammer 40k. With 10th Edition getting closer and closer, it was finally time to take a look at some of the new datasheets – sadly, without points values (but according to leaks, the 16th of June will see the release of the Munitorum with all the points cost of every unit in the game)! I have picked out some of the most interesting ones from both the Space Marine and the Tyranid side, but you can find all of the Warhammer 40k Leviathan Box Unit Datasheets below!

Space Marines

The Space Marine Captain in Terminator Armour

Of course, the leader of the vanguard facing the first waves of the Leviathan Hive Fleet received some great new rules. The front side of the Captain’s datasheet was showcased when Games Workshop revealed the Leviathan Box set at Warhammer Fest, but now, we have all the information regarding the possible Wargear of this fearless Astartes. He can swap his storm bolter to heavier weapons be it ranged or melee, or the Relic Shield, which increases his durability. We also know which units he can be attached to with his Leader ability: the Captain can be in the front alongside some Relic Terminators, Terminator Assault Squads or “regular” Terminators.

The Librarian in Terminator Armour

One of the flashiest models in the Leviathan Box (at least on the Adeptus Astartes’ side is the Librarian in Terminator Armour. This glowing paragon of psychic might can join the same squads as the Captain becoming their leader, which gives the unit a 4+ Feel No Pain against Psychic Attacks and the Sustained Hits 1 keyword. He can also ditch his storm bolter for a combi-weapon, which has less attack at range, but up close, it can be much more devastating than a humble bolter. His Smite has huge potential as well, capable of dealing 18 Wounds if you hit the god-roll.

The Terminator Squad

Of course, I couldn’t look over the new Terminator models, which look absolutely stunaning, while also packing a punch on the battlefield as well. They have a few options for heavy weapons if their squads are big enough, being able to swap their bolters for flamers, assault cannons or missile launcers. They also have the Deep Strike keyword and the Teleport Homer ability, which let’s them surprise enemies by arriving in their Movement Phase even if you don’t have CP. They are also a deadly force in both melee and ranged thanks to their Fury of the First ability, which let’s them ignore any BS/WS modifiers, while also giving extra chances to Hit against their Oath of Moment target.

Tyranids

The Screamer-Killer

One of the most awaited model of 10th Edition, the reimagined Screamer-Killer looks incredibly scary, and it’s bite seems to be worse than it’s bark. This giant monster has 10 Attacks in melee hitting on a 3+ normally, with a Strength characteristic of 10, -2 AP and 3 Damage – so God-Emperor help anyone, even the toughest warriors who get in range of this specialized Carnifex. While the Shadow in the Warp can force Battle-shock tests, the Screamer-Killer can wreak havoc on it’s own thanks to it’s Death Scream ability, and with it’s Assault Bio-plasmic scream, it won’t be hard to trigger it’s skill.

The Neurotyrant

While the Winged Hive Tyrant is the designated Leader of the Tyranids in this box, the Neurotyrant can also fill those shoes. This horrifying floating brain has some incredible capabilities as the Leader of either some Tyrant Guard or Neurogaunts, buffing their Hit and Wound rolls, the Shadow in the Warp Army Rule and the Synapse of the Tyranid army. It also has a very strong Psychic ranged weapon, which lets it deal heavy damage to lightly armoured units – and also make the best use of Fire Overwatch thanks to the Torrent keyword, which makes the shots automatically hit.

The Barbgaunts

While there are some incredible models in this box, the Barbgaunts are one of the standouts for me, as they are a silent killer: while they don’t really wipe enemies off the battlefield with their 0 AP Damage 1 weapons, their Disruption Bombardment can make life hell for armies that want to get up close and personal, as it subtracts 2 from every type of movement they can make, let it be a simple Move, an Advance or a Charge. This makes them perfect to hold key objectives or protect key targets, where they can rain bio-hell down upon everyone brave enough to get close to them.

Of course, there are many more units in the Leviathan box set, for example the Infernus Squad, the Winged Hive Tyrant or the Von Ryan’s Leapers – all of the datasheets can be found in the gallery below!

The 10th Edition of Warhammer 40k is really, really close now, and I for one can’t wait!
