The Xbox team has announced how it will be supporting LGBTQIA+ communities across Pride Month, as well as which games are celebrating with free content drops.Xbox’s Play with Pride announcement post, which also confirms a continuing partnership with GLAAD, explores the intersection of personal stories and video games through the eyes of Xbox Marketing chief of staff and co-lead for Team Xbox LGBTQIA+ Pav Bhardwaj, and also confirms the ways in which several other games — Asphalt 9: Legends, Overwatch 2, and Disney Dreamlight Valley — are celebrating Pride Month.Overwatch 2 and two more games honoring Pride Month with free contentBhardwaj shares their personal journey towards sharing their whole self at work, and their hopes for creating discussions about representation in gaming. This continuing partnership also involves making Tell Me Why free throughout June in honor of Pride Month, before going on to discuss how Asphalt 9: Legends, Overwatch 2, and Disney Dreamlight Valley are celebrating Pride Month.From today, June 1, Overwatch 2 players will find “an extensive collection of profile Player Icons and Name Cards celebrating the many diverse identities that make up the tapestry of this fantastic community,” with the Xbox Wire post also pointing players towards the Blizzard Gear Store to find its Pride-themed items.In Disney Dreamlight Valley, players will receive some free t-shirts — these will be handed out via claim codes when Update 5 arrives. We learnt more about Update 5 just recently with Disney Dreamlight Valley’s new 2023 roadmap.Meanwhile, Asphalt 9: Legends will start its Race for the Pride event on June 23rd, which will run until July 2nd. This free event will be found under Daily Events and will reward players with a Pride-themed car decal.Lastly, a partnership with “LGBTQIA+ communities at Xbox” has created a new gamerpic, as well as a new profile theme, wallpaper, Pride motion background, and avatar items.
