Sonic Co-Creator Yuji Naka Reportedly Sentenced To Over 2 Years In Prison

Yuji Naka, the co-creator of the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, has reportedly been sentenced to over two years in prison in wake of insider trading allegations levelled at the game developer during his team with Square Enix when he worked on Balan Wonderland.That’s according to Denfanminicogamer, a Japanese publication that claims the Tokyo District Court delivered the sentence today, and fined Naka-san 2.5 million yen, although his defence team are looking to reduce the fine. Naka was arrested in November 2022 over allegations he had obtained thousands of shares in a company named Aiming, prior to its announcement it was working on Dragon Quest Tact.He was later arrested yet again just one month later, this time over claims he had purchased over 100,000 shares in ATeam Entertainment, a mobile developer that developed Final Fantasy 7: The First Soldier.
