Ubisoft has announced that a live-action adaption of the popular Driver series is in the works and will launch exclusively on Binge.com.Focusing on the story of John Tanner — the ex-professional racer who jumped back behind the wheel as an undercover agent — and his mission to take down a crime syndicate, the live-action Driver TV show will launch on Binge.com exclusively sometime in 2022. “Our mission at Ubisoft is to bring our games to life in new and exciting ways and create content set in the world, culture, and community of gaming,” says Ubisoft Film & Television’s head of television development, Danielle Kreinik. “Working with Binge will allow us to bring a Driver series directly to the audience who is most passionate about seeing this franchise come to life.”The show sees Ubisoft Film & Television’s Jason Altman, Danielle Kreinik, and Genevieve Jones acting as executive producers, alongside Binge’s producers Allan Ungar and Vincent Talenti. “As long-time fans of the franchise, we’re excited to deliver an original, premium, and rich storytelling experience that will take fans and newcomers on a thrilling ride,” said Binge’s Allan Ungar.Could this mean that we’ll be looking at a new game set in the Driver universe sometime in the future? Perhaps, considering the series’ last mainline entry was Driver: San Francisco in 2011. Will you be tuning in to watch the live-action Driver show when it releases next year?
