“Please, let it rest,” read many of the comments when Skyrim was announced yet again for yet another generation of consoles. The game, which released in 2011, was re-released for the PlayStation 4 in 2016 and is headed to the PlayStation 5 this November. But let’s face it, the re-releases exist because people keep buying them. Same is the case with Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto V.I get it; it’s a little annoying to see a game that has been out since 2013 being sandwiched in between upcoming releases in a highly-anticipated video game showcase. But that wasn’t the only thing that attracted criticism. Not only is this GTA V‘s second re-release, it also doesn’t seem to offer a major visual overhaul. Fans are pointing out that the game’s PS4 and PS5 versions look near-identical and the delay to March 2022 doesn’t make much sense. At the time of this writing, GTA V‘s latest trailer published on Rockstar’s YouTube channel has amassed 44K dislikes and only 26K likes. The trailer has been panned more on the official PlayStation channel, where it currently has 18K likes and 43K dislikes.GTA V‘s PlayStation Showcase appearance has spurred some genuinely funny memes and comments. Fans are evidently ready for the next chapter in GTA, but – again – GTA V has consistently appeared in sales charts ever since it released so we can’t quite blame Rockstar for making money. It’s a business after all.As for the next GTA, it’s reportedly a ways off.The Story of GTA V in pictures: pic.twitter.com/jQqbexWch3— In My Mind (@MeAloneInMyMind) September 9, 2021
