The Baltimore Ravens got the news they didn’t want on Marcus Peters and Gus Edwards’ knee injuries. They’ll miss the 2021 season each with a torn ACL.

Baltimore has already dealt with its share of devastating injury news ahead of the new season. That won’t make it any easier to hear the worst-case scenario has come for cornerback Marcus Peters and running back Gus Edwards.

Peters and Edwards won’t be able to play in 2021.

“Tests confirmed that Ravens’ CB Marcus Peters suffered a season-ending torn ACL at today’s practice, per source,” Adam Schefter tweeted on Thursday night.

“Tests confirmed that Ravens’ RB Gus Edwards suffered a season-ending torn ACL at today’s practice, per source,” Schefter added a few minutes later.

Ravens injury update: Marcus Peters, Gus Edwards out for season

That’s two starters for the Ravens taken out in one afternoon. The two suffered their injuries within a few minutes of each other at practice on Thursday.

Edwards moved into a starting role because of a season-ending injury for JK Dobbins. Backup Justice Hill also had a season-ending injury, sending Baltimore scrambling to find replacements in Le’Veon Bell and DeVonta Freeman.

Peters was set to start in his third season with the Ravens since being traded from the Rams in 2019. The 28-year-old had a strong 2020 campaign with four interceptions. Without him, Baltimore now has questions to answer in their secondary as well as their rushing attack.

Dealing with this over the course of an entire offseason without it coming just days before the season opener.
