Chicago White Sox centerfielder Luis Robert dares to plunder from Pirates, but appears to get away with it.
Robert is the best defensive centerfielder in baseball, and it’s tough to prove that claim otherwise. The 23-year-old finish second in Rookie of the Year voting in the National League last season, but did win his first Gold Glove.
He could win his second in 2021, assuming it’s not platinum instead.
We’re sorry, Jacob Stallings. Robert took that hit away from you like your father stole millions from the Pitt Athletic Department (yes, I hold grudges).
White Sox: Luis Robert makes full-extension grabs look casual
Robert is the odds-on favorite to win another Gold Glove. It would be an upset should he not, despite his injury concerns. However, it’s Robert’s prowess at the plate that makes him such a threat this season.
Hitting .344 with a .522 slugging percentage and .389 OBP, Robert’s become the all-around threat many expected of him as a minor-league prospect.
