Gamescom 2021 Xbox Stream round-up

Although we had no new announcements during Microsoft’s Xbox Gamescom showcase, we did have a host of Xbox Game Pass news, updates, expansion announcements, new trailers, and more. Check it all out in our round-up below!Microsoft opened the show with a new look at Dying Light 2: Stay Human. The new trailer showcased some of the game’s slick freerunning and brutal combat. The Xbox showcase brought a wealth of Microsoft Flight Simulator news, including that the game’s first major expansion will add the Reno Air Races. On top of this, we also learned about the game’s next World Update, will make improvements to Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, with 100 new points of interest, and several new airports.Humble Games on Xbox Game PassIt’s good news for Xbox Game Pass subscribers and indie game lovers! Microsoft revealed that ten Humble Games are coming to the service on day one.Into the PitInto the Pit is a new first-person retro roguelite that will take you to Hell and back to slay some demons. The game is launching for Xbox One and PC on October 19th, and joins Xbox Game Pass on day one. The Age of Empires team gave us a look at the new “Hands on History” feature coming to Age of Empires IV. You’ll be able to unlock 28 videos that were filmed with experts from around the world, giving you a deeper look at how people lived and fought in the past. Xbox Cloud Gaming announced for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox OneMicrosoft announced that Xbox Cloud Gaming is coming to Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One consoles this holiday, which means Xbox One owners will be able to play Series X|S games such as Microsoft Flight Simulator on their previous-gen consoles. Wasteland 3: Cult of the Holy Detonation DLCComing to Wasteland 3 on October 5th is the Cult of Holy Detonation expansion. The DLC takes you into the Cheyenne Mountain military complex to deal with some mutant cults that worship a nuclear explosion held in stasis. Sea of Thieves is getting a Borderlands crossover event where you can unlock some sweet Borderlands-themed cosmetics. The Making Mayhem event is live now and runs until September 7th, so make sure you jump into the game and unlock the Mayhem Ship Set. Microsoft then announced that while we wait for State of Decay 3, State of Decay 2 will next week receive an update that takes us back to the original’s Trumbull Valley. The map has been remastered and will be packed with new characters to meet and undead things to re-kill.Stray BladeAction-RPG Stray Blade was announced to be coming to Xbox Series X|S in 2022. The fantasy adventure divides player attention between two characters — a hardy adventurer and cute crafting companion — while the world around you adapts to your successes and failures.In a somewhat surprising announcement, Paradox revealed that in-depth strategy favourite Crusader Kings III is coming to console. The UI and controls have been reworked to allow users to play with a pad without missing out on any of the depth or complexity of the original PC release.Double Fine’s celebrated sequel Psychonauts 2 premiered an awesome launch trailer ahead of tomorrow’s release. We also had confirmation that the interesting game will also be joining the Xbox Game Pass library when it launches in December.The latest (and perhaps loudest) Xbox controller is here, with the new Forza Horizon 5-inspired pad going up for preorder today. The translucent yellow controller will ship alongside the game in November.Microsoft closed out the show with eight minutes of stunning new Forza Horizon 5 gameplay. The Initial Drive trailer shows off the opening of the game, with a selection of supercharged vehicles screaming across Mexico’s varied landscapes on their way to the Horizon Festival.
