Skyports and CAAP partner on LatAm vertiport deployment – sUAS News – The Business of Drones

London, United Kingdom, 30th November 2022 – Skyports Infrastructure, the market leadingAdvanced Air Mobility (AAM) infrastructure provider, and Corporación América Airports S.A (CAAP), aleading private airport operator, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to plan thedevelopment and deployment of vertiport infrastructure for electric vertical take-off and landing(eVTOL) operations. Skyports and Corporación América Airports will combine their distinct industryand technical expertise to share best practices for vertiport design concepts in markets of mutualinterest.The collaboration will involve developing vertiport networks and operationsfor relevant use cases anddetailed planning for the deployment of permanent vertiport infrastructure. As part of these efforts,the companies will evaluate which of Corporación América Airports’ assets are best suited for vertiportdeployment, prioritising sites based on market readiness and opportunity. In June 2022, the companyannounced partnerships with eVTOL vehicle manufacturers Eve Air Mobility and Vertical Aerospace(both of which also partner with Skyports), Avolon, GOL, and Grupo Comporteto to support theintroduction of eVTOL operations.Skyports Infrastructure’s work with Corporación América Airports extends Skyports’ presence in LatinAmerica. In 2021, the company’s drone operations arm, Skyports Drone Services, launched anambitious beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) drone logistics operation in Colombia’s remote regionsof La Guajira and Chocó, backed by investor Irelandia Aviation, which is also a majority shareholder ofColombia’s Viva Air.
