Activision has released the new trailer for Call of Duty: Vanguard, giving new footage and a release date to the long rumoured and often leaked return to World War II for the first-person shooter franchise. The trailer showcases a globetrotting approach to the campaign to capture the scope of the war. There will be four theatres of war: the Eastern Front, North Africa, Western Front, and the Pacific. In each campaign, you will follow a different soldier, all of whom are based upon the real-life experiences of veterans according to a Polygon interview with Sledgehammer. You will be playing as “Sgt. Arthur Kingsley, of Britain’s 9th Parachute Battalion; Lt. Polina Petrova, of the Soviet 138th Rifle Division; Captain Wade Jackson, from the U.S.’s Scouting Squadron Six (Navy); and Second Lieutenant Lucas Riggs of Australia’s 20th Battalion.”In the trailer, you can see these characters in action in their respective theatres. Vehicles are heavily featured across all four, from tanks rolling across the North African desert and through the cold Eastern Front, and the planes of the Western Front and the Pacific. The classic CoD dialogue makes a return, too: “Sometimes, the only way to put out the flames, is with more fire.” Let’s hope this man doesn’t pursue a career as a fireman after the war ends. The trailer also finally gives us a release date: November 5th. We also know that Raven Software is in charge of the Warzone/Vanguard integration, so expect an overhaul of the Battle Royale a little while after release, as was done for Cold War. There will also be a Zombies mode, though no information was given other than that it exists. Vanguard’s multiplayer is said to be released with 20 maps on day one, with a flagship new game mode called Champions Hill. There are three editions of the game available for preorder: the standard edition, the cross-gen bundle (with a native Series X|S version), and the Ultimate Edition. There are preorder bonuses already live that will net you access to the Vanguard beta, the Frontline weapons pack, and the Night Raid Mastercraft skin for Cod War and Warzone. In the Tri-Force One pack of the Ultimate Edition of the game, the will be three operator skins for Lucas, Polina, and Wade, as well as suitably themed weapon blueprints. This most expensive version seems to offer players the Premium Battle Pass for the first season of the game. Are you excited for a return to WWII for Call of Duty? Let us know in the comments!
