The highly anticipated Final Fantasy XVI has seemingly been confirmed to be an exclusive PlayStation 5 game for at least six months. In a new ad about the PS5 DualSense Wireless Controller’s features, Final Fantasy XVI was briefly shown with a disclaimer at the bottom. It reads, “Final Fantasy XVI anticipated Summer 2023. PS5 exclusive for six months.”Enter new worlds and immerse your senses with stunning visuals, 3D Audio, haptic feedback, and adaptive triggers from the DualSense Wireless Controller on the PS5 pic.twitter.com/FIuqGjDZy4— PlayStation (@PlayStation) November 7, 2022 While we’ve known that Final Fantasy XVI had been a timed console exclusive for PS5, it was still unclear for exactly how long. Sony’s deals can vary greatly. Ghostwire: Tokyo and Deathloop were 12 months timed exclusives, while Forspoken will be a PS5 exclusive for 24 months. While Xbox players are left in the dust, for now, Final Fantasy XVI will at least also come to PC. The concern is when exactly it will. Back when Square Enix announced the game in a PS5 showcase back in September 2020, the live stream included the words, “also available on PC” yet the official trailer that was uploaded removed any mention of such a version.According to Square Enix, Final Fantasy XVI’s development is about 95% completed and a specific release date should be revealed by the end of the year.
