Justin Fields is changing the narrative as much as the Bears will let him

As the Chicago Bears continue to give Justin Fields more chances to thrive in the offense, the narrative of failure is disappearing.

It might not look like it from the outside, but in the halls of the Chicago Bears, there seems to be more confidence in young quarterback Justin Fields.

Over the last two games, Fields has shown that he can be the guy for Chicago, as opposed to previous notions by many who thought the Bears once again bungled the quarterback position in the draft.

Granted, the amount of passing yards Fields has accumulated leaves significant cause for concern. Moreover, the lack of wide receiver help is appalling. That said, the athleticism that made Fields a first-round pick coming out of college is finally starting to show itself.

Justin Fields is rewriting the narrative by the Chicago Bears allowing him to be more of himself as opposed to converting to a prototypical quarterback

The main concern with Fields at this point is the lack of production, but given what the Bears currently have on their roster, can we expect them to be a superstar-laden offense? No, but you were certainly hoping to see just a bit more progression, at least in terms of passing yards.

That said, the lack of talent around Fields plays a significant role in that, and yes, general manager Ryan Poles deserves a lot of the blame. Still, the majority has to be placed in the hands of former GM Ryan Pace, whose approach to the draft and free agency was appalling, including shelling out bad contracts and making overly aggressive trades for players that did little to help the team.

Ultimately, time will tell if Fields is the right guy for the Chicago Bears, but given what we have seen so far, he at least deserves the rest of the season to show what he can do for the current regime to make the right decision.
