Xbox boss Phil Spencer has revealed during a chat with YouTube channel Same Brain that the Call of Duty franchise will remain on PlayStation as long as Sony has hardware available to ship to.This is by far the clearest indication yet that the multi-million selling first-person shooter series won’t be exclusive to PC and Xbox due to the planned Microsoft acquisition of Activision-Blizzard.We’re not taking Call of Duty from PlayStation… That’s not our intent. Our intent is not to do that and as long as there’s a PlayStation out there to ship to, our intent is that we’ll continue to ship Call of Duty on PlayStation – similar to what we’ve done with Minecraft since we owned that. We’ve expanded the places where people can play Minecraft, we haven’t reduced the places. And it’s been good, it’s been good for the Minecraft community – in my opinion – and we want to do the same when we think where Call of Duty can go over the years.Related Content – Sony PS5 Complete Guide – Everything Explained On PlayStation 5 For New UsersPreviously, Spencer said that it makes ‘zero business sense to remove Call of Duty from PlayStation,’ although Sony’s Jim Ryan has described Microsoft’s pledge to keep the franchise on the platform as ‘inadequate on many levels.’In related news, the latest entry in the Call of Duty franchise, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, topped the UK All Format Chart with the majority of sales on the PS5.[Source – Eurogamer]
