Byadmin

Oct 30, 2022

October 2022 is a special month for Mortal Kombat fans. On October 8, Mortal Kombat officially turned 30 years old. But that’s not the only reason October 2022 is a big deal.

Raiden, son of Tommy and Linda Pham, was born with a rare disease called UBA5 deficiency. A mere estimated 30 cases of UBA5 deficiency exist in the world. His parents started the Raiden Science Foundation to raise money for UBA5 research and other rare diseases.

Raiden’s fight is a fight that can’t wait for a consultation with the Elder Gods. From hospitals and medical universities to John Tobias and Sonya Blade, everyone is stepping up and helping out. And now, Mortal Kombat is joining the fight. Enter: Kombat4Rare

Fighting Through Gaming

Kombat4Rare is a gaming-focused effort to raise money for UBA5 and rare disease research. Streamers like MaximillianDood, unCAGEDgamez, and Justin Wong have hosted charity streams throughout the month for Kombat4Rare. There have also been online and offline Mortal Kombat tournaments as part of the Kombat4Rare charity efforts.

With 2022 being Mortal Kombat’s 30-year anniversary, what better time to take Kombat4Rare to the next level?

Starting at 12 PM PT, Kombat4Rare will be streaming a mega-special event to bring awareness and raise funds for UBA5 research. Tune in to watch a Mortal Kombat and MultiVersus tournament. CONEY and TastySteve will be on the mics providing commentary for the MultiVersus tournament. UltraDavid and Mr. Aquaman will be commentators for the Mortal Kombat tournament.

But it gets much better.

Giveaways Every Hour

There will be a chance to win some sweet gaming gear every hour of the stream. If Logitech is your thing, you’ll like what Kombat4Rare has in store for viewers.

You’ll have a shot at getting the Logitech Aurora Collection, comprised of a G735 Headset, G705 Mouse, and G715 Keyboard. A Logitech G915 TLK Keyboard, and Logitech Pro Series PRO X Wireless Headset & Keyboard, and a PRO mouse are also up for grabs. If you play on consoles and are feeling left out, don’t worry. PlayStation and Xbox viewers have a chance of winning an ASTRO A40 TR headset.

For those looking to set up a dream retro gaming room, Kombat4Rare has some grand prizes for you. Most of us have at least heard of Mortal Kombat. But we’re well past the heyday of NFL Blitz, and many people don’t know what that is. That’s especially the case for the average Twitch user.

If you haven’t experienced the gloriousness of NFL Blitz before, now’s your chance to get the arcade experience. Kombat4Rare will also be giving away Arcade1Up MK 30th and NFL Blitz cabinets.

Exclusive Interviews, Podcasts, and More

If you want to take a trip down nostalgia lane or freshen up on gaming history, Kombat4Rare will have on a bunch of legendary names, faces, and voices from yesteryear gaming for interviews and podcasts. Former NFL player Ahman Green will be hosting a special Gamer Lounge podcast today with Sal DiVita, Joshua Tsui, Tim Kitzrow, and Mark Turmell.

Sal DiVita is a voice actor, video game designer, and martial artist. He is well-known in the MK community as the actor who portrayed Nightwolf, Sektor, and Cyrax in Mortal Kombat 3 and Trilogy. He also portrayed Scorpion in MK Mythologies: Sub-Zero, but a lot of people like to pretend that game never happened.

Joshua Tsui is a game designer and actor most well-known in the MK community for portraying Liu Kang in Mortal Kombat 4 and working on Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero. After departing from Midway, Tsui would later aid in developing games like Tao Feng: Fist of the Lotus, Fight Night Round 3, and several Tony Hawk games.

Tim Kitzrow, aka Mr. Boomshakalaka, is the voice behind NBA Jam, NFL Blitz, NHL Hitz, and MLB Slugfest. He is one of the most iconic voices of the 1990s.

Last but certainly not least, Mark Turmell is one of the main brains behind classics like NBA Jam, NFL Blitz, and Smash TV. He was also a major creative force behind two lesser-known but still fondly remembered sports titles like NBA Showtime: NBA on NBC and NBA Ballers.

There will be some sweet art reveals from freelancer Flavio Luccisano and guest interviews with folks like Kerry Ann Hoskins, the actress for Sonya Blade in Mortal Kombat 3, Trilogy, 4, Gold, and Mythologies.

Today is going to be a great day for Mortal Kombat (And MultiVersus) fans. And the best part of all is it’s for a great cause.
