Vanity to provide the stability C9 needs.

Today, Cloud9 announced the addition of Anthony “vanity” Malaspina to their Valorant Roster. The announcement was made just a few hours ago through the official Cloud9 Twitter handle. Vanity is regarded as one of the best IGLs (in-game leaders) in the Valorant circuit and will be joining Cloud9 as their new shot caller. The current captain, Mitch “mitch” Semago, will take a back seat and hand over the duties to the new in-game leader. Additionally, the signing also reunites him with two of his former Chaos CS:GO teammates in the form of Nathan “leaf” Orf and Erick “Xeppaa” Bach.

The current roster of Cloud9 features a seven-man team:

  • Mitch “mitch” Semago
  • Nathan “leaf” Orf
  • Michael “poiz” Possis
  • Ricky “floppy” Kemery
  • Erick “Xeppa” Bach
  • Anthony “vanity” Malaspina
  • Son “xeta” Seon-ho

Vanity made great strides in his Valorant career with his former team. He led an almost unknown team like Version1 from a mere open qualifier to the first Valorant Masters in Iceland. The qualification of Version1 during the initial pre-qualifiers sent shock waves throughout the Valorant NA community. Apart from his insane shot-calling skills, he is also a technically gifted player who can easily swap between various roles.

Cloud9’s history in the Valorant scene

Cloud9 is one of the few organizations that jumped into the Valorant esports frenzy way back during the initial launch. Despite such keen interest, The Cloud9 roster never established itself as one of the front runners in the NA scene due to a string of poor performance in all major tournaments. The team also had to face several roster changes over last year, with five to six player shuffles. Due to the constant changes, the team was never able to find the synergy it deserves. Hopefully, the addition of Vanity will resolve all the issues and provide the stability it needs.
