Call of Duty 2021, or to use its codename, Call of Duty: Vanguard, could be revealed as early as next week if a now-deleted tweet that was allegedly hit with a DMCA takedown notice is to be believed. A tweet from user NEXTGEN_ishere claimed that the Call of Duty: Vanguard reveal/preview embargo ends on August 19th at 10:45am PT/1:45pm ET/7:45pm CEST. Many dismissed the rumour as the user’s account is unknown and didn’t provide any evidence to back up their claims. However, as the tweet started to pick up steam, it was supposedly hit with a mysterious DMCA takedown notice and has now been removed. Known insider Tom Henderson then picked up on the story and claimed to have verified with four independent sources that “a Vanguard reveal or something related to Vanguard is happening on August 19th.” Over the past few days, rumours have been floating around the internet suggesting that a PlayStation State of Play event will also take place on the 19th. Henderson says that Sony has the marketing rights to Vanguard, and considering that every recent Call of Duty reveal or announcement has come out of a Sony event, it wouldn’t be too much of a surprise to see Vanguard announced at this State of Play — that’s if both rumours are indeed true. Not much is known about Call of Duty: Vanguard, currently. Activision has confirmed that Sledgehammer Games is developing the new title, and it’s been rumoured that the game will be set during World War II. Are you excited about this year’s Call of Duty?
