Disney announced a new AAA Marvel adventure game during the Disney & Marvel Games Showcase. A teaser trailer was shown for the untitled game, featuring Black Panther and Captain America in a WWII adventure from Amy Hennig. The debut of the Disney & Marvel Games Showcase brought with it the announcement that Skydance New Media, Amy Hennig’s new studio, is working on a AAA adventure game for Black Panther and Captain America. The project is currently untitled, but Skydance revealed a teaser trailer, and the Marvel website offers a snippet of information.Black Panther and Captain America game revealAccording to Marvel, we can expect the game to feature “exhilarating second-to-second gameplay” as Skydance New Media explores “new frontiers in interactive storytelling.” The game will take place during WWII and bring with it four playable characters: a young and fresh-faced Steve Rogers/Captain America, the WWII Black Panther and T’Challa’s grandfather Azzuri, the leader of the early Wakandan Spy Network Nanali, and Gabriel Jones, a U.S soldier and member of the Howling Commandos. With its WWII setting, we’re sure that we’ll see plenty of Hydra throughout this title. “We’re so grateful for all the enthusiasm and support we’ve received from fans, and we’re thrilled to finally unveil a first glimpse of the game during this year’s D23 Expo,” president of Skydance New Media Amy Hennig said. “Marvel has been an incredible partner throughout the creative process as we develop an original story and build an exciting new team of characters. We hope fans are intrigued by this sneak peek, and we’re excited to share more down the road.”During a chat a little later on in the video above, Hennig discussed the main pillars that Skydance is following for this untitled game. It’ll be a story-driven and character-driven action-adventure game, “rich in its cinematic presentation,” and offering best-class visual fidelity. Hennig’s studio is also building the game to be “inviting and welcoming to everybody,” “We want everybody to feel like they can experience this so they can put themselves in the shoes of these heroes,” Hennig said. “The controls are simple, contextual, intuitive, but also deep for long-time gamers and people who have never touched a game before.”Platform information and a release window are yet to be revealed, but hopefully it won’t be too much longer until we hear more. Skydance New Media was formed in 2019 and during the chat above, Marc Bernardin mentioned that the writers “happily signed into the Zooms [calls] every day for years and years and years,” which suggests the game has been in the works since the studio’s founding.
