Publishing behemoth Activision Blizzard revealed in its filing to the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for the FY ended December 31, 2021 that Sony was its biggest customer in terms of revenue for 2020.As noted by Daniel Ahmad of Niko Partners, Microsoft actually ranked fourth place, so if there was ever any doubt as to Sony’s popularity among Activision Blizzard properties, those reservations can now safely be cooled.In total, the PlayStation manufacturer accounted for 17% of Activision Blizzard’s total net revenue for 2020, which totals around $1.37 billion. This was followed by Apple (15%), Google (14%) and Microsoft (11%). This will bring some of the industry’s biggest franchises, including Call Of Duty, Diablo & Overwatch, under the Xbox umbrella.However, Microsoft chief Phil Spencer has said that Call Of Duty will remain on PlayStation for several more years beyond its current marketing deal; an offer that Sony boss Jim Ryan has labelled ‘inadequate on many levels.‘Meanwhile, it is currently unknown what will happen to controversial Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick following the acquisition.
