San Diego Padres outfielder Juan Soto was removed from the team’s game against the Arizona Diamondbacks after getting hit with a pitch.

The San Diego Padres were proclaimed the winners of the MLB trade deadline after they brought in huge names to make a run to the postseason, with their biggest player being outfielder Juan Soto. Things had not gone the way the Padres had expected since, especially with the Los Angeles Dodgers having a monstrous lead in the NL West. How could things get worse.

During the Padres’ game against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Sept. 7, Soto was hit in the right shoulder on a pitch by Tommy Henry. While he did remain in the game initially, he was pulled from the game in the fifth inning and replaced by Trent Grisham.

There has been no official word from the team as to what the exact injury was that caused him to leave the game. There should be some sort of update during the postgame press conference.

The month of September has not been kind to Soto from a production standpoint. Entering this Diamondbacks game, Soto recorded a .125 batting average, a .300 on-base percentage, a .125 slugging percentage, two runs scored and two hits in 16 at-bats.

Overall, Soto is slashing .235/.395/.378 while recording three home runs, six RBI, 20 runs scored, 23 RBI, 26 walks, and 15 strikeouts in 28 games with San Diego.

It will be worth keeping an eye on if Soto will miss time after getting hit by a pitch in the shoulder on Wednesday night.
