Los Angeles Dodgers infielder Trea Turner’s slide into home plate was a thing of beauty during Tuesday’s game against the Philadelphia Phillies.

The Los Angeles Dodgers entered Philadelphia looking to end the honeymoon phase of the Phillies, who took first-place in the NL East with their sweep of the New York Mets this past weekend. In the opening contest of their three-game series on Tuesday night, the Dodgers sent them a statement in style, courtesy of trade deadline acquisition Trea Turner.

In the top of the sixth inning, Turner hit a double to center field off pitcher Matt Moore. After a line out by Max Muncy, catcher Will Smith knocked a double to Phillies right fielder Bryce Harper, and Turner made a beeline for home plate. Turner scored with ease with perhaps the smoothest slide ever.

Seriously, that was a thing of beauty.

Turner, along with ace Max Scherzer, were traded to the Dodgers by the Washington Nationals in the bombshell trade at the deadline. The move was made to give Los Angeles that extra push to help them repeat as World Series champions. Turner did not make his debut with the team until this past Friday after being placed on the COVID-19 injured list ahead of the trade deadline.

In his fourth game with the Dodgers, he has already endeared himself to the fanbase in the form of a smooth slide home.
