Lenovo kicked off IFA 2022 with two tablets and the second generation of its folding laptop – the ThinkPad X1 Fold.
The ThinkPad X1 Fold 2022 packs a larger 16.3-inch OLED foldable display with a 2560x2024px resolution, 600 nits of peak brightness, 100% DCI-P3, and Dolby Vision support. That’s a big improvement over the first-gen 13.3-inch X1 Fold.
You can use the ThinkPad X1 Fold 2022 as a 16.3-inch free-standing monitor with a Bluetooth keyboard.
You can also fold the display at 120 degrees like a traditional laptop and attach the magnetic keyboard over the bottom part of the display, resulting in a 12-inch laptop.
You can, of course, use the ThinkPad X1 Fold 2022 as a huge tablet if you wish.
Under the hood is a 12th-Gen Intel vPro Core i5 or Core i7 processor with Iris Xe Graphics, up to 32GB of LPDDR5 RAM, and up to a terabyte of SSD. You’ve got two USB-C ports, both Thunderbolt 4, as well as an optional nano-SIM slot.
There are three Dolby Atmos-ready speakers and 4 mics with Dolby Voice.
Battery-wise, there’s a 48Wh built-in battery and an optional 16Wh battery that goes in the second half of the device. The ThinkPad X1 Fold 2022 weighs 1.28kg for the display only, and 1.9kg with the keyboard and stand.
Speaking of the keyboard, it’s backlit, unlike the one on the Asus Zenbook 17 Fold OLED. The keyboard has a built-in fingerprint scanner, while the ThinkPad X1 Fold 2022 has a Windows Hello-certified 5MP webcam.
Lenovo will ask $2,499 for the ThinkPad X1 Fold 2022 when it begins shipping in November.
Next up is the Lenovo Tab P11 Pro second generation. It’s the global variant of the China-bound Lenovo Pad Pro from last month. It has an 11.2-inch OLED display of 2560x1536px resolution with a 120Hz refresh rate, and up to 360Hz touch sampling rate.
The Tab P11 Pro (2nd Gen) is powered by the MediaTek Kompanio 1300T, a more powerful Dimensity 1200 for tablets, with up to 8GB of RAM, and either 128GB or 256GB of storage. It runs Android 12L and Lenovo will provide two major OS updates down the line.
Sound is carried by quad JBL speakers, optimized with Dolby Atmos, there’s an 8,200mAh battery and an SD card slot.
The Lenovo Tab P11 Pro is going on sale this month, priced €499/$499.
The Lenovo Tab P11 (2nd Gen) is a lower-tier slate with an 11.5-inch IPS LCD of 2000x1200px resolution, up to 120Hz refresh rate, and 400 nits of maximum brightness.
It’s powered by a MediaTek Helio G99 with 4GB or 6GB of RAM, 64GB or 128GB of storage, and a 7,700mAh battery. It also runs Android 12L and will get two major OS updates.
The Tab P11 (2nd Gen) will ship in early 2023, starting at €349/$349.
