In a new interview with SNK producer and designer Yauyuki Oda, both Capcom and SNK are interested in the potential of a SNK vs. Capcom revival.“Definitely in the future, that’s something that I think everybody on all sides, in both parties, are interested in making a reality.” said Oda.“Especially after we saw the reaction to the [Evo posters] …it helped us reconfirm that that is probably one of the most wanted things from the fighting game community across the entire world.”Oda explained that his enthusiasm shouldn’t indicate that any plans have been laid, but it is something that could begin to become a reality.“We haven’t really talked in detail with anybody at Capcom about it. It might have come up as a vague comment. However, we have a lot of experience [in crossovers] with things like Akuma and Geese in Tekken…But recently we haven’t actually done anything with Capcom, even on character collaboration stuff. So that poster [at Evo], in our sense, was the first step towards maybe something like that happening in the future.”The last time both parties got together for an SNK vs. Capcom title was all the way back in 2003, so Oda is likely not wrong when he says it’s something a large amount of the fighting community would like to see. It’s been so long since the last one, brining the franchise back would certainly have a lot of fans interested.Source – [VGC]
