Fresh details on the next chapter in the Assassin’s Creed franchise, which we’ve already heard will reportedly take place in Baghdad, will launch in Spring 2023 and will bring back Eagle Vision and go ‘back to basics.’That’s at least according to an info dump by YouTuber j0nathan, who has had some of his info corroborated by Bloomberg’s Jason Schrierer. There’s a lot to digest, but the latter backs up reports about a Spring 2023 launch as well as the setting and ‘back to basics’ approach.Reportedly, the game will be titled Assassin’s Creed Mirage and will be set during the period 860-870, and focuses on Basim in his youth as a thief until he joins the Hidden Ones. The first Assassin’s Creed apparently has a strong influence on its back to basics focus, although talk about there being ‘multiple cities to explore’ were shot down by Schrierer.Elsewhere, Eagle Vision is coming back, and the RPG elements that formed the core of the last couple of games are being removed, so that means no dialogue choices, no gender choices and no levelling system. The biggest thing to take away from all this is mention of an Assassin’s Creed 1 Remake, which is reportedly going to be integrated into the game’s Season Pass. The remake will apparently utilise a lot of assets from Mirage and will be released a few months after AC Mirage.Take all this info with a pinch of salt, as nothing has been confirmed by Ubisoft yet. However, evidence certainly seems to be mounting regarding the next chapter in the series.Ubisoft hasn’t announced the new Assassin’s Creed game yet, but the publisher is hosting a special event in September to discuss the future of the franchise.[Source – j0nathan on YouTube via Rebs Gaming on Twitter]
