Evony is a real-time strategy MMO that combines a lot of different genres. You’ll build your own city, train troops that you can send into battle, and solve puzzles for rewards that allow you to expand your empire. You select a civilisation, which determines your city’s architecture and available generals. There’s an awful lot to do here, and it’s perfect for those that like to wage war with, or against, their friends.
You can play Evony right now on the official site. If you’re a fan of games like this, we recommend checking out our Vampire Survivors characters, Ensemble Stars Music Cards list, and Grand Piece Online races.

Evony Generals FAQ
Below, we’ll answer questions you may have about generals.
What Are Evony Generals?
This is a good place to start, right? Generals serve as your Monarch’s leader, effectively taking charge of your war efforts. They’ll lead armies, gather resources, attack monsters, defeat bosses, and also participate in PVP.
You can also rally them to defend your city or place them as Mayors of your Subordinate Cities.
How do I Recruit Generals?
You recruit generals from the Tavern.
What’s the Difference Between the Rarities?
Effectively, the higher a generals rarity (from Rare through to Awakened), the higher the attributes of that particular general. In even simpler terms, Awakened generals should feasibly be the most powerful options in the game.
Are Historic Generals More Powerful?
Historic generals are based on real-world figures, including King Arther, Washington, and Jumong. When you first collect a historic general, they are no more powerful than any other general – aside from the rarity bonus, of course. They do have a unique skill though, which can come in handy in certain situations.
However, these are the only types of general that you can awaken. Awakened generals are the most powerful generals in the game. So they do have the potential to be the most powerful generals – just not when you first collect them.
How do I Awaken Evony Generals?
Awakening an Evony general is pretty simple, though time-consuming. Here’s how to do it in steps:
- Collect an Epic general that you can ascend
- Gather enough Historic General Fragments to increase their Star Level to ten
- Consume Blood of Ares and the Historic General Fragments to achieve Star Level ten
- Ascend the card, at which point it will turn red
What Are the General Attributes?
There are four different general attributes:
Leadership
- Mayor: Increases training speed by 0.1%
- Army: Increases Troop HP / March Speed
Attack
- Mayor: N/A
- Army: Increases Troop Attack
Defence
- Mayor: N/A
- Army: Increases Troop Attack
Politics
- Mayor: Increases construction speed by 0.1% / Gold Production
- Army: Increases resource gathering speed / Troop death to wounded rate
What Equipment Can Generals Have?
Generals are able to equip six pieces of gear, including:
- Weapon
- Clothes
- Boots
- Helmet
- Pants
- Ring
Each type of equipment provides unique buffs to the general that wears them.
What About General Skills?
Aside from the attributes, you can increase your general’s statistics via Skill Books, which come in levels one, two, and three. Each levels provides a subsequently higher boost to the attribute.
You can’t stack skills to increase their effects, as a skill will always take the effects of the most powerful Skill Book you’ve used.
How do I Enhance Generals?
Each time you enhance a general, they gain a star up to a maximum of ten. You do need to collect the appropriate amount of gold and medals to perform this action though.
In terms of why you’d enhance your generals, it boosts their attributes. You can also awaken historic generals at star rank ten.
What About Cultivation?
Cultivation provides a general with a small boost to its base stats for 6,000 gold or 20 gems.
