Sonic the Hedgehog will be returning to cinemas for a third movie outing in December of 2024, the Sonic voice actor has revealed; a full year after its previously expected release. The voice actor behind Sonic, Ben Schwartz, and the movie’s official Twitter account have revealed that Sonic the Hedgehog 3 will now streak onto cinema screens on December 20th, 2024 (thanks, IGN). The news follows the announcement that producer Chuck Williams is working on a live-action Pac-Man movie alongside Bandai Namco, Wayfarer Studios, and Lightbeam Entertainment.Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is no longer coming in 2023Sega’s financial report back in May had pegged the third movie for a 2023 release, but it’s presumably been delayed by a year to allow Williams the time to work on the Pac-man project with Bandai Namco. Nothing is known about the third movie’s plot just yet, or who will be starring or returning to the series. Looking at Schwartz’s post, though, it seems safe to say we’ll see Tails and Knuckles tagging along for another adventure, which is also teased via a post from the franchise’s official Twitter account that says “Running faster, flying higher, and punching harder. #SonicMovie3 hits theatres on December 20, 2024.”We’re yet to learn of the movie’s cast aside from Ben Schwartz, but Idris Elba has signed on to voice Knuckles in a spin-off movie, so it’s highly likely the actor will return for this third outing. Colleen O’Shaughnessey is yet to confirm whether she’ll be returning to voice Sonic’s floofy-tailed sidekick, Tails, with the actor currently only retweeting the announcements. Sonic the Hedgehog 2’s post-credit scene teased the arrival of Shadow for Sonic 3, but we’d love to know your predictions for the next movie. Let us know down in the comments!
